Chemicals are a basic component of running an industrial facility

Not only is it important to have the right chemistry to perform the necessary job, but the feed system, the application point as well as  the correct feed rate can be critical components of any chemical program. Improper application can negate any benefits of selecting the right chemistry.

At Environmental Leverage, we recognize the importance of all the factors that go into selecting and applying the proper chemical program. Over 150 years of combined experience are rolled into troubleshooting and consulting a waste treatment plant to look at all the options available.

Key Benefits

bulletPast Experience
bulletPossible discounts
bulletProgram Recommendations
bulletSynergy with other companies
bulletLower Chemical Costs
bulletLower Solids Handling Costs
bulletDrier Cake Solids
bulletLess Carryover and TSS in the supernatant that is returned to the front end

Chemicals are used for precipitation of heavy metal removal, polymers used for Dewatering solids. Chemicals are used for Odor control, for antifoams, for pH adjustment, for nutrient addition and for TSS control.

Polymers- Flocculants and Coagulants for Wastewater applications

Many times polymers or flocculants are used to try to control TSS problems in a clarifer. If you have problems with TSS in you clarifier, there are other ways to optimize the system including looking at the biology, the depth of the bed in the clarifier, age of the MLSS, etc. Environmental Leverage now has a line of products that can be used to help with TSS problems in a wastewater plant, but first we would look at other variables in the plant to see if there are other ways to optimize the system first before using chemicals in the clarifier.

Solids handling can be the most costly area in a plant. We know that not only do you have to have the right polymer program to help with dewatering, but the more water you can remove from the solids and get drier cake solids, the less handling costs you incur.  There are many ways to optimize solids handling, starting first with the biology of the system. It is a whole lot easier to dewater nicely formed floc than a large tangle of filaments! At Environmental Leverage we can help you with the system as well as the polymer program.

Here is an anaerobic digester sludge. The plant is having a hard time getting the solids dewatered on a belt press beyond 15-16% dry cake solids. Here is how the very fine solids looked with just jar testing of our emulsion polymers just on the bench test! an incredible amount of water released from the solids, before it was even put on the belts!!

Here is another plant that we helped optimize the Belt press!.

We first ran bench trials, and it appeared we could cut the current polymer program by 25-30%. So, we came in the following week and ran the trial on the actual Belt press.

We went from this, which is the current competitor program to our program, with 35% less polymer, dried cake, and less TSS in the supernatant!!

For more details on this trial and how to lower costs and get better results contact us!

Sludge Dewatering Optimization

Find out how Environmental Leverage Inc. can help at your plant. We perform an audit of the plant, look at numerous variables before any program recommendations can ever be made.
