There are thousands of species of living creatures all that can be found in one drop of water! Single celled bacteria, protists, macro invertibrates, worms, algae, etc. All creating a unique ecosystem!

These photomicrographs were taken from many pond and lake samples. Most of the objectives used were 40, 100x and 400x. Some photos were taken at 1000x.

Come take a closer look at the amazing world under the microscope!

This guy had a very large mouth and was trying to eat all he could suck in	lots of spikes on this one
Very large with his mouth wide open, look how big he is next to the other midge

creepy eyes on this snake like worm
very large with bristle like hairs along the body

two distinct eyespots

hundreds of these in one sample midges
they wiggle around like maggots

The Green Algae This phylum Includes about 7,500 species that occur in a rich variety of forms and occur in diverse, widespread habitats. The Greatest variety of algae are found in freshwater lakes, ponds, and streams. « Most have a single nucleus. « Most reproduce both sexually and asexually.
