Mystery Bug of the Month

December-05

Ok, it is getting close to time for presents, but it looks like a puzzle. . . . .

Well, it is not quite a puzzle on a large scale, but on a macro scale!. Yes, these photos were taken under the microscope! They do make cool photos and artwork though!!!!

These photomicrographs were taken from a pond sample.  Most of the objectives used were  40x and 100x. Some photos were taken at 400x for enlargements.

Come take a closer look at the amazing world under the microscope!

Well, now it looks like we have a puzzle and a ball

1000x

400x

400x look how each piece interlocks just like a puzzle

1000x

1000x

Ok, well this proves it is indeed under the microscope, there is a pair of paramecium mating in this photo!

Hard to believe this is nature!

Here you can see the cilia from the paramecium eating some single celled bacteria on the surface

here the cells taper off around the edges

Rotifer popping out of the center and a Coleps off to the left side

100x you can now start to see the overall shape of the puzzle. . . . .

100x

1000x

40x

Wow, just changing the size makes everything look completely different!

Always zoom in under the microscope to see more details and a totally different perspective.

You might be surprised what you find!

Here is another wastewater sample with yet again Mother natures natural wonders

A puzzle

It is amazing how the pieces all interlock

Here is our puzzle at low power 100x

400x

blown up to 1000x

Here you can see the puzzle separating in one spot

Amazing and very pretty!
